Barbara Lambert
has had a long and varied career as an educator. She was employed as a corrective reading teacher for elementary school children for four years, and spent another four years teaching adults preparing for their GEDs.

She then became curator of education at the Utica Zoo. During her 14 years in that position, Barb brought education programs and zoo animals into classrooms.In addition to writing and editing the Zoo’s newsletter and souvenir guide books, she also produced a signage system for exhibits.

After retiring from the Utica Zoo, she was a substitute teacher in the public schools and later became a citizenship instructor and English language teacher for adult immigrants. Currently, she is a volunteer proofreader for the Utica College alumni magazine and other UC publications.

Barb has taken several of Marge’s furniture refinishing courses and encouraged her to write this book.
